Ep 26: "Fallen Star Pt 13"
Hello, and welcome to the Queens of Nerd and podcast. I'm Blak, and I play Machitis in our first RPG or role playing game. This is not a dungeon and dragons game, but a home brew game created by a very own doctor awesome, aka Eric, who is the game master. This game takes place in the world of Sariva, and we are currently playing act 1 fallen star. Hope you enjoy.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Alright. So you guys head are heading out into the forest. So it's slow moving with the horses and stuff until you reach an area where you can kinda open up, like, where you see it's a little bit less foliage and
Mara (Jenn):As far as the trees.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):This this area, the river is, pretty, low right now, low level. It's also got a lot of blood and trash and all sorts of, you know, like, pieces of wood and, you know, basically stuff from the battles are are washing down river. So it's very easy to cross because most of the river is backed up due to, you know, cargo goods and broken wagons and everything else being in the water. So you guys cross over at no time. When you reach the edge of the edge of the forest, basically, from here, it's gonna be a lot of open land.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Right? You're crossing you're you you've had to go back and forth to try to avoid some of the movements that you see. The monster horde that was beaten, they've all had to retreat, so they're all heading back towards the west. So you guys kind of get close to exiting the forest and then you'll see a couple of them so you head back. You had to cross back over the river one more time because there's a, you'd say probably the largest group of what you've seen of the monsters that are still injured and stuff crossing over.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):But, also, you, everybody had an uneasy feeling when you were right in this area. So go ahead and roll your 2 tens for a chance to perceive minus 15%.
Melody (Tay):Where's my chance to proceed?
Mara (Jenn):I got it. 14.
Dolion (Mac):I did not get
Melody (Tay):75. Where's my chance to proceed?
Mara (Jenn):Character attributes,

Dr. Awesome (Eric):Alright. Alright. So you guys crossed back over the river, crossed back over it again. Now you're at this this obvious crossing location. It's been used many times before.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):As you could tell, it's kind of worn away. So it's very shallow. This is a spot where they like to take wagons and stuff because they know they're not gonna get overturned or, fail fording the river like we all remember from Oregon Trail. So Okay. So here you are.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):And I might have
Melody (Tay):Ah-ha! I am bigger than all of you.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):That's true.
Mara (Jenn):I'm lucky. It's

Dolion (Mac):I'm gonna I'm

Dolion (Mac):3 of us kinda and Genjiro kinda know what our abilities are. Mhmm. For whatever reason, I'm just like, I bet Mara's gonna throw some Crimson fire bats out this motherfucking shit. But, that's your thing. You know?

So If you wanna tell a, Aggravar I got an idea, because I have no problem conceding my turn to you so you can, you know, do something to spread the, kinda spread them apart so you can, you know, take them.
Melody (Tay):I also upgraded. I have, like, something too. But I'll just do that. Alright.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So Mara is gonna go first then melody then the guys are gonna attack. I
Dolion (Mac):have no problem going last. I'm all for it guys, but, mate, in the little groups and then, me picking off the stragglers.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Sounds good.
Dolion (Mac):Alright, Mara. What you got?
Mara (Jenn):Okay. So I'm gonna cast stone guardian.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay.
Mara (Jenn):And then I'm also going to cast animate stone because I see some stone on the side of the river way. So I'm gonna cast down, animate stone.
Dolion (Mac):Look at fucking Avatar Kyoshi. She doing her shit. I like it.
Mara (Jenn):So, I'll I'll use the stone and use it as like projectiles, and then I'll also cast, command plants. So I see that they're all kinda surrounded by plants, so I'll try to use the plants so I can ensnare them.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay. Which ones in particular?
Mara (Jenn):The ones with this the the ones in the cloaks, they look shady. They look shady as fuck.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay. Do you have particular ones you wanna hit?
Mara (Jenn):I'll tell my stone golem to, hit the ones to the north to attack them, and he's got about, 35 SID
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay.
Mara (Jenn):With, 7 turns. And then, and then I'm going to have the command plants on the ones to the south, southwest.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Like these guys?
Mara (Jenn):Right here. Yeah. So I'll see if the plants can kind of like ensnare them, and then I'll kind of do like an AOE as far as like the, animate stone and use it as projectiles. Sorry. Kind of like a cone there.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):I'm gonna use, this for ensnared.
Melody (Tay):It looks like one of those things that takes out those staples.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yep. That's what grabbed them is the staple removers. Like, oh, staple remover got me.

And then, once I get behind him, I'm a roll with the spinning backstab, which does double damage and strikes 2 to 3 opponents with one action. Must be undetected, assuming I'm undetected with Shadow Walk.
Dolion (Mac):Correct?

Dolion (Mac):No behind the dude on the path. Yeah. And will I be close enough to strike the dude in front of them with the spinning backslash or should I

Dr. Awesome (Eric):he wants part of your son. So you thought it was Lysander, but it's now that you're close enough to see him, you're like, this

Dr. Awesome (Eric):It just clarifies that who it is.

You would think of, like, a mummy, but his skin just comes back together again. Kinda like like His skin dead. Weaves itself to yeah. So critical stripes and stuff aren't gonna be the the way to go.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):I mean, he did take damage. I need to know the damage you do because, I mean, you can do enough damage to take him out. Whether or not it kills him permanently though is different story.
Mara (Jenn):What other magic do you have? Wait. Dolion, what what other magic do you have?

Dr. Awesome (Eric):No. But that damage that you just did with this this spinning, backstab was Oh. Could be enough to take him down because that was hit that hits, and then it was double damage your weapon plus
Dolion (Mac):Plus 15 critical. Well, it was supposed to be, the critical. I rolled under for the critical.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yeah.
Dolion (Mac):So the damage, for the weapon I use for slash is, 125 times 2, 250, and then the spilling bonuses, didn't give me any extra bonuses to my, damage. But I got bonus damage for my, under my character combat information that's plus 30.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay. So 30 plus the weapon plus and double damage. What's spinning add to it?
Dolion (Mac):The spinning is double damage. So the spinning backstab, double damage.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Quadruple damage then.
Dolion (Mac):Alright. Yeah. We'll do that then. Abracadabra.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So 30 plus the weapon plus your strength plus so that
Dolion (Mac):should be Slash is 125, just basic, the basic weapon damage. Okay. Quadruple that, that is 500, and the bonus to damage is plus 30, so 530.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):That's 30, so it's 155. And you said 125 is the base damage with the those?
Dolion (Mac):Yep.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Okay. So one that'd be 155.
Dolion (Mac):Okay. So that was 4? Yeah.

Dolion (Mac):Right. I would like to hold on real quick.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yes.

Melody (Tay):You already know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna use my evasive routine. Alright. Get the fuck out of there.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Alright. So evasive routine, Melody basically is not getting hit by projectiles. So you 2 have 5 projectiles coming at each of you.
Melody (Tay):Like Can I
Dolion (Mac):5 bags?
Melody (Tay):Can I do my shit? Nope. I don't have enough of EPMP. Wait. Hold on.
Melody (Tay):Yeah. I do. I have just enough. Perfect. Can I use my barrier of lightning?
Dolion (Mac):Yeah.
Melody (Tay):Okay. Cool. I'm gonna use my barrier of lightning, so they don't get shot at. It's 3 SID times half level for one turn times 1 fourth level.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yeah. So all his daggers hit that.
Mara (Jenn):Yeah.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Alright. So he does a like, ninja vanish. Poof. Don't. And back He's
Melody (Tay):gonna walk too?
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Mara with a 15. So you you can't block or dodge that, Mara. Now Dolion could try to block for you. Defend other is the skill.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):You don't have that skill, but for some reason you have the ability to defend other.
Dolion (Mac):Can I use parry?
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yes. So you can block with your blade. It's a negative 10% to block, but you can block and defend other.
Dolion (Mac):So my block is 80 negative 10, so that's 70. Is there any other, I wanna
Dr. Awesome (Eric):see if your weapon gives you a bonus. It might negate the negative. So that's a double negative.
Dolion (Mac):Bonus to defense is 10.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So yeah. So you have no negative then.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):Oh. Alright. So, strangely when when Dolion blocks that guy's blocks, Durges' backstab, there's a burst of, looks like smoke, but it's shadow. Both of you disappear and you land up over here and, you notice that he does have a wound on him. It's wound on his right right shoulder like where he where you carried his weapon.
Dolion (Mac):Right. It's
Dr. Awesome (Eric):like it the blade went a little bit further and actually cut his shoulder. So he stands a little bit back for me, but he seems a little bit surprised. But I mean, he's wearing a mask, so you don't know how surprised. You can't see the o face or anything.
Dolion (Mac):You say his eyebrows just go up?
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Mister Poco.
Melody (Tay):No it's Shaq.
Dolion (Mac):Cool. So we're back on Mara's turn then?
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Yep.
Mara (Jenn):Okay. Really? Where'd this fucker come from?

Mara (Jenn):command plants on Darius and hold him in place, and then I'll cast soul entrapment.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):So if you wrong them and they feel like they need to get revenge, they'll send the death blades. But you guys smoked most of them out in the first onslaught of action. So, really, Durgus was one of the only ones left. He belongs with the daggers more. The cultists are all dead now, and then you have Darius.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Darius is a very weird, you would say, construct of necromancy. He's some sort of construct created like a flesh golem, but his soul's gotta be entrapped somewhere else. Problem with that is, yes, this body that they made of his decayed parts, they could do it again. So at least you have his parts, but someone still has his soul trap somewhere. So, and he keeps referring to the master, but now he's not even gonna be able to speak.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):He's he's in pieces. So, and at least there's no more threat to to Dolion's son from him anyway. Because Can I

And that doesn't sound it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the iron dragon that he is your that the spirit comes from the mountain river back in the eastern lands.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So there's certain things for spirit folk if they come or spirit warriors if they come in contact. Like, if they're a plants and they're in a bamboo what do you call it?

Dr. Awesome (Eric):Alright. You guys take your time and with what bandages you do have, you can patch up Melody's arm. Once again, you are surprised by the fact that, the Dolioin's wounds and Melody's wounds do not seem to be, causing you any sort of thirst.

Aggravar comes back with a small doe and drops it, skins it, and starts prepping it for eating for you guys by chopping off its hind legs and putting it over there for, you know, with the fur and stuff removed. He said, so you guys have some food, and he's gonna eat the rest of the body because he doesn't cook.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):But at least you guys have some fresh food. So fresh food, you guys get, plus 200 and, 250 life force back. Get a little bit better rest. You're on your way to healing for your wounds. That's what you guys have already bandaged everything.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Now you're eating well, so, wounds will start to heal better. You guys feel pretty safe because, like I said, most of the stuff is moved on from this location. Aggravar says once we break through the the tree line and we head out just past the road, he said I could smell it. You guys probably smell it when the wind changes, but there's a large battlefield that we're gonna cross between here and, the caves. It's mostly empty now, but we still have to be cautious especially for looters or, you know, anyone coming by to pick up stuff like we when Melody was looking through everything, there's people that just come by to collect weapons and armor off the dead and just sell it for whatever they can.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):They eat the flesh of the dead. So battlefields usually draw them in. And it's hard to pick them out because they look dead, and they're amongst the dead. So they're easily they can easily surprise you in a battlefield, an old battlefield. So we'll we'll tend to that.

Be careful when you go through the shadow realm when you shadow walk because it's not going to work on them. They'll still be able to see you. So the the biggest way that I can, that I notice them is that they will have normal eyes and then they will have, like, another set of eyes on their head.

Dr. Awesome (Eric):was just gonna say the the Darkin for the, for the most part hide inside of a human host. The only way to know is when it's if they are shrouded in darkness, you'll see the other set of eyes above their eyes. It's like glowing eyes that appear just on their above their other eyes. Right. Dr. Awesome (Eric):But they'll look normal. They'll look like a human, but they're not a human anymore. But they come from that shadow realm, the dark of you. They almost obliterated everything in that shadow realm. They ate they destroyed everything.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So they try to come through to the prime material or the your guys' realm, the mortal realm

Dr. Awesome (Eric):Seriva and Lunaria. Both were permitted to create worlds in their, you know, ideal, however they viewed it. Lunaria created her world, and Seriva created hers. Problem was somebody interfered with Lunaria because he was a a celestial named Decimus, And, as he watched the worlds being created and the mortal lives being created and everything, He was having a bit of a a crisis between him and the creator. He felt that the creator gave a little bit too much freedom and everything to the the people and that they didn't deserve what they had, but it wasn't his call.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):He's just a celestial. The creaters, you know so anyway, he went to Lunaria, not directly because Decimus likes to do things. He's known as the deceiver for a reason. He whispered and so forth to her. Like, oh, look.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):The creator seems to pay more attention to your father pays more attention to Seriva's creation. Oh, your father does this, and, eventually, Lunaria was, like, hurt. So she decided to give in to some of what Decimus was suggesting. And when she did so, it led to attacks on Seriva's peep Seriva's world. So the creator punished Lunaria by making it that her world would never see the light of his sun again because he's the sun, the eye of the creator.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):He would never look upon her world again, so her world is always behind Seriva's when they rotate around the sun. She never gets to see sun. So her people froze. Her world froze, and it's like a moon. It's like a giant moon behind Seriva.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):Right? Some of her people survived. The Lunarians live a lot underground, okay, on this ice planet, but they're very technologically advanced, and the reason is is because when the doom of the ancients happened here on Seriva, the Lunarians didn't have that because they were still recovering from the time they invaded Seriva's world, and then they were all punished. Then they moved underground. They never built the doom machine.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):The ancients on Seriva got to a technological advancement point equal to the Lunarians, but then they created the doom machine. And that thing wiped out like 90% of life on Seriva when they used it. So they've had to rebuild, and they don't have that technology. The most technology they have is stuff you see with the Obsidian order, where they have airships, you'll see occasionally the thing that looks like a tank. You know, they have some technology, it's either steam driven or uses gems like the the magic gems to power, But the Lunarians still have way advanced stuff because they have synthetic life forms and so forth.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):So that's the ancient ways, but that's Lunaria's story. Lunaria has since not done anything wrong, but she's always considered duality. She's the goddess of night. Okay? She's light and dark.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):She's also the goddess of music. Alright? She's the goddess of serenity and sleep. Okay? Now she's basically been outcasted by her father, and she lives on her world and takes care of her people the best she can with not being able to see light and so forth.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):But if you look at the situation, be it right now, Seriva has a serious lack of, higher power being able to afford any help. Okay? So it was theorized before Melody and Mara were theorizing on Seriva. Child of light is born. The chosen were born.
Dr. Awesome (Eric):They they reach a level to where they can face evil and try to stop it. That hasn't happened in a while.
