We have a few things that we're gonna be talking about. As you guys know that we're going to be introducing our hall of queens tonight, and, Deante was so gracious to come and, do that with us because we felt like that was something really special to share with people. And, I'm also gonna be revisiting some of the things from the previous nerd forecast and then also getting into our nerd forecast as well.

Tay:

Little little story here. Tay and I were talking about it, and I wanted to give some recognition to some women, specifically characters that they play. Not I mean, the actresses are amazing, but, you know, when they bring life to a character, I think that that character kind of, like, stays in your mind. And I love how they can be strong and badass.

Tay:

And you're

Jenn:

and and but they maintain this sort of femininity as well. Yeah. Just my just my personal opinion. I I love that about a character. I think it's a very delicate, balance that you have.

Jenn:

So, we decided to make a poll, and, you guys are actually hilarious. Hilarious with the poll because you actually added people.

Oh my god. I that is a queen for sure. Krysten Ritter plays her in, live action for the Netflix series for those of you that's not familiar. It's based off her in the comics, and she is power power woman, I believe, is her superhero name. It's been a while for me, but, her love with Luke Cage and they had a kid together, Their whole story is amazing, and they kinda tease their relationship a little bit in the live action, with Mike Colter's Luke Cage.

Deante:

It's like but it didn't really, like, push them, like, towards marriage and having a baby yet. They they were just point buddies, in the Netflix.

Tay:

Point buddies. Yeah. It was their sexual tension was insane because it's just like they walk in the bar and just stare at each other. You're like, no way. You wanna go back to the apartment?

As we would say in the military, stand by to stand by. Alright. I too loved, Krysten Ritter as, Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones as a a character like, I just loved her. Like, I mean, she that badass.

Jenn:

She was. Like, she would just, like I mean, the some of the videos that I I posted for fighting skills. She she was mostly just, like, all power

Deante:

Jenn:

Befitting her name, obviously, and, generally happily foul attitude and drank constantly. And, I just absolutely adored her. Like, she yeah. She's amazing. Like, that was a great pick.

Tay:

She pulled off that leather jacket so well.

Deante:

She did. Yeah. She's so well. She's such a great PI. Yeah.

Jenn:

She really is. Yeah. She she yeah. She knows how to blend too. So Yeah.

Tay:

And Blake in the comments, he said to bring her back into the MCU, and I would I would love to see that. I would love to see her on the big screen. That, Blake. Yeah.

Deante:

She embodied that role. Yeah.

Jenn:

Really well. And it's like the whole encompassing, like, a female, you know, character. It's just it's so good. It's so good. Yeah.

People sleep on that show for sure.

Jenn:

Yeah. If they if you got if no one has seen that, I highly recommend that. You definitely have to watch Jessica Jones. I'm hoping that they Disney breathes some some life into it again. I would say

The, yeah, I wouldn't be mad. The, character, for, Trinity, I mean, her her growth as a character, like, throughout the, 3, now 4 movies was just epic. I I love how, you know, she's very hesitant to, like, fall in love with Neo and, you know, she eventually does, and she like, totally embraces it. And I love the little altercation that she has. Oh, what's that lady's name?

Jenn:

She's dressed all in white, and she's like, it's just a kiss. And she's, like, holds a gun to her face.

Again, with the character growth, I love the character from when, you know, you first see her in the first Terminator, and she first meets Kyla Reese, and she's very, very much, embodies her. Like, she's a waitress, you know, she just she's a regular kinda gal, and then she gets into, like, these life or death situations.

Jenn:

And then in the end, you see her become a badass. Like, she kills that that Terminator at the end. Or, I mean, granted, she did not do it on her own. I mean, Kyle Reese may don't give me started about Michael Bean. By the way, b Rhodes, he's he's on my daddy list.

Jenn:

Total total badass. And then you see her in in Terminator 2, and she is, like, to me, like, the ultimate badass. I mean, she's holding that syringe with, like like like, the cleaning fluid and, like, the psychiatrist's neck, and she's just like, and I'm just like, damn.

Deante:

It was just, you know, Hollywood. But, you know, that's what they're portraying and, like, how much of a badass that she actually is.

Jenn:

Like, she's actually, like, charging the shotgun and she was, like, shooting it, and she does it multiple times in a row. And the only reason this trick stops is because she ran out of ammo. She's still going.

Deante:

Jenn:

And, honestly, like, she fits into that ultimate mom category, you know. She's got John behind her. She's gonna fucking protect her son. Yeah. You know.

BE Rhodes Says, seem to remain Metroid Prime game series. Silent protagonist kills Crate Ridley in the meta Ridley and countless numbers. But yes. Okay. Sir, again, awesome recommendation.

Jenn:

Absolutely. I totally agree. Metroid Prime definitely does not get enough attention. I was actually I can't remember how years old I was when I realized I was like, it's a girl? Yeah.

Jenn:

Yeah. I know it's a girl. I know because I'm so used to it. Yeah. Willie, I agree.

Jenn:

You like, I I can't remember what Metroid it was. It was probably one of the more fancier ones that was, you know, a little bit beyond the the 12 8 bit or whatever. The 8 yeah. I mean, most of the time, like, your characters are all dudes. So we had, like, Metroid, and we had Lara Croft there coming out as, you know, female, protagonist of video games.

Jenn:

Like, it kinda threw me for a loop a little bit. And, I thought that was awesome. Great recommendation. I love that. Love And

Tay:

now here you are talking about Lara Croft, and I'm like, oh, man. Oh, man.

Jenn:

So once again, why Tay and I wanted to do this hall of queens because there's so many wonderful characters out there that I just would love to to talk about. I mean, they're just amazing. Again, I know it's Hollywood, but those characters are what stay with you. They shape you. They're what you aspire to.

Dude, I remember playing Lara Croft like Tomb Raider at on PS 1. Terrible graphics. Whenever that tiger came out, I screamed, and I gave the controller to my dad because I was just, like, I don't know what to do. Like, you gotta deal with this us because it's a tech NBA.

Deante:

My dad still talks about to this day where, he he saved it right as he was dying. And whenever you load up your save, like, that's the last save. That's it. Like, the little memory cards, you know, on, PlayStation. So you had nothing else.

Where do I know you from? So she was actually Emma from miss, Peregrine's school for particular or Peculiar Children from, Tim Burton. So she was actually the girl that would fly, and she had to wear, like, the weighted shoes, if you guys remember. Yeah.

I've never watched this one.

It's actually it's a good movie. Recommend it. It's Tim Burton, so, you know, he's weird. I love him. So Aaron Moten, he was in Father Stew, and then, he was in Emancipation with Will Smith.

Jenn:

He played the character Knowles. He's I really like him. Like, dude, he went in like, I wanted to cry. Like, some of his when he would do, like, his face, and he's like I'm like, dude, he's gonna make me cry. Like, I don't know his face.

Jenn:

And then, of course, Walter, or Walton Goggins. Like, his, I like his, I don't know. Dare I say he's kinda like an, antihero where, you know, you love to hate him, which I kinda feel like that that's a character that he chooses a lot. The character that he played that kinda stands out to me was he played a a trans character on Sons of Anarchy. If anybody is a fan, did a phenomenal job.

Phenomenal job. Can't believe like, yeah. He he played trans yeah. So it's a Sons of anarchy. It's amazing.

Yeah. I did not play the Fallout games. My husband did, and I was a, observer, if you will, while he played. And, the actual, Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy, actually had a character, and she played Fallout games, which I really appreciate beyond belief that she actually played these games. And she said it was very surreal, that she made a character that looks like herself, And then she actually played this particular character, so she was like it was kinda, like, mind boggling

To do in real life. And she's freaking hilarious, guys. If you guys have not seen, like, some of her TikToks or any of her, reels or Instagram videos of hers, like, she's hilarious from real life, which honestly just makes her, like, even more likable. Just the sets alone, I think, on Fallout is admirable. Like, just just this I mean, just the vault wheel, like, moving and turning and the sets that they made and and just, like, the landscapes.

Like, I'm not sure how much that's, like, CGI, like, matte work. Like, I'm not even really sure what they did. Like, it was amazing. Like, I felt like I was in the video game. I felt like I was playing.

So what you're you're seeing here is actually when he first meets Armand, and then they meet the they, him and Claudia come across the, theater of the vampires where they're pretending to be humans, pretending to be vampires is is kind of that part of the book. So we're still in the first book of the Anne Rice of the, vampire series. So I like that they're taking their time with it, and they're not just going over a whole book in a movie, which I get why they do that sometimes. But, I like that they're taking their their their time with it. I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice and her her vampire books.

I think they're a little hard to watch sometimes with the mistreatment of the apes. I think it's kind of the the turn off for me sometimes, but I like the, triumph that wins in the end. I think it's kinda makes it worth watching.

Absolutely. If you didn't know, fallen star part 9 actually came out on 12th, so this last Friday that just passed. Our newest fallen star came out, and it's a world of fun. You get to hear me and Jenn So, if you have been listening, we are having another one, our part 10 coming out, on this coming Friday. And, we might actually be debuting our 1st campfire, but we'll see, depending on where the episode ends, because we did the campfire this, session.

Tay:

But if it doesn't line up with the release, then we might have to hold off until next Friday. But, anyway, that is coming exclusively to our DFPN Patreon family and, future campfires as well.

And if you guys aren't familiar with the Fallen Star, it is a tabletop RPG or home brew variety that, my very own husband, Eric Johnson, aka doctor Awesome, has created for, the better part of 2 decades. I've played, several campaigns, and it is a lot of fun. It's based on the continent of Seriva, which is a totally different world than our own. They have

Because I was like, I have no idea what to cosplay as. Because I already had one idea, but we decided on 2 outfits. So I had to figure out another one, and I just couldn't figure it out. And, you know, Jen, with her infinite knowledge and

Was like, why don't you do Ripley? And I was like, I do have a flight suit. So I'm super excited for that, to to do that.
